Discounts (RAs and TFs)

If you are a research assistant or teaching fellow, you are eligible for a 10% discount at the BU Bookstore and may extend your BU library borrowing privileges, after you have obtained your BU ID card.

The Student Activities Organization (SAO) at BU has an office on the 2nd floor of the George Sherman Union where you can buy discounted movie tickets ($6.50) for Regal Cinemas (the Fenway 13 theater). Can’t be used in the first 12 days of a movies release, unless you pay $1.50 upgrade fee. Surcharge for all 3D movies. Other various discounted tickets are possibly available.

Clothing and Climate

The winters in Boston can be bitterly cold, so you will need some warm clothes. The summer days can be hot, so cool clothing is in order too.

Sports Pass

BU automatically charges your student account for a Sports Pass ($110), which gives you admissions to some BU ice hockey and basketball games. You can reject the sports pass through the Student Link to avoid paying for the Sports Pass in the future. Note that the Sports Pass is not required to access the Fitness and Recreation Center. For more information about tuition and fees, see the Student Accounting Services Tuition & Fees page.
